ComAp has expanded its controller communication capabilities with the introduction of the Ethernet Inter-Controller Communication (EICC) module — enabling ComAp's advanced controllers to communicate over Ethernet for the first time. The new module makes inter-controller communication simpler, more reliable, and more flexible, with direct benefits for datacentre operators through Ring Topology and rental power providers with Star Topology support.
Built for Datacentre Reliability
In critical power applications, communication failure is not an option. The EICC module supports a redundant Ring Topology that takes datacentre reliability to a new level. Should a single controller or an entire switchboard fail, the system continues uninterrupted without any disturbance to the controlled technology, keeping the installation running and minimising both downtime and failure costs.
Like ComAp's established CAN FD communication, the Ethernet solution supports up to 64 controllers on a single communication line — providing the same proven scalability within a more resilient infrastructure.
Scalable Star Topology for Rental Applications
For rental companies managing dynamic fleets, the EICC module introduces star topology support: gen-sets connect individually to a central Ethernet switch, making it straightforward to add or remove units online without interrupting ongoing operation. There is no need to reconfigure or rewire the CAN bus when the fleet composition changes — a meaningful reduction in time, cost, and operational complexity on site.
Simple, Reliable, Flexible
The EICC module is designed to integrate naturally with ComAp's existing controller ecosystem. Whether operators need the fault-tolerance of a Ring network or the plug-and-play convenience of a Star network, the module delivers Ethernet-grade communication without compromising the reliability ComAp controllers are known for.
The EICC module is available for sale now.
